This movie was my husband's 1st choice for his birthday celebration. It took me three days to get a reservation since it was sold out far in advance. I happened to log on shortly after they released seats the 3rd day so I was able to reserve two seats, but it was for a showing a week away.
I noticed Hubby was looking at his watch often during Episode IX, so I knew he wasn't going to give it a great rating. He gave it three out of five stars. The movie was way too long coming in at two hours and twenty-two minutes. Note that I'm not a big Star Wars fan, I only went because my husband wanted to see it. I prefer the earlier movies prior to the addition of actress Daisy Ridley. I really don't care for her acting. I was shocked when I learned they chose her for the role years ago. I fell asleep during the movie several times and that's never happened to me in a movie theatre before. There were long scenes with no action that were so boring I closed my eyes and bam I fell asleep. Daisy had too much time on screen, she bores me. They should have given that time to Adam Driver. I'm a big fan of his since watching him in the movie The Report. The plot was lacking and it switched between scenes awkwardly. The music wasn't as exciting as I have come to expect. I was shocked they slowed down the theme song diminishing any excitement. Many people in the audience kept coming and going getting refills and going to the bathroom, it was very distracting. I thought Star Wars fans would be more dedicated and stay seated or perhaps they were bored too or it was just too long to sit still. The ending was a slight tear-jerker. Check out the trailer:
Episode IX is not worth going to the theatre unless you a big Star Wars fan and you can afford to go to a theatre that has recliners. Otherwise, wait until it's available on-demand and on DVD. That way you can fast forward through the boring scenes that should have been cut and you can sit in a comfortable seat with intermissions. If you saw it, I'd love to hear how many stars you give it. Perhaps the Disney+ Mandalorian episodes are more exciting. If you've seen them, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Comment below!
Have a PEACEful Day!
